Set in 1920s Louisiana and featuring Disney's first African-American Princess, this culturally important, beautiful and evocative (of a New Orleans that no longer exists) film may not have the standout musical numbers of some of its stablemates but is an old fashioned treat all the same.
Southern Fried has hooked up with our friends at Perth Playhouse to create a cinema programme that complements and connects to the music lineup with a great mix of classics, documentaries, family films and the odd curveball.
Nominated for three Oscars, Disney’s first animated feature with an African-American lead character is set in 1920’s New Orleans and retells the classic story of The Frog Prince when the lives of arrogant Prince Naveen and hardworking waitress Tiana cross paths. The soundtrack is made up of great gumbo-flavoured Randy Newman songs which he mostly sings himself but also features Dr John, Terrence Blanchard and the voice of Tiana, Anika Noni Rose.
All tickets £5 or £7.50 for any two movies purchased at the same time.
