This muscular, technically bravura work revisits the 1982 invasion of southern Lebanon by the Israel Defence Forces in which many civilians died and many young Israeli military conscripts, including Maoz himself, were marked by the carnage they witnessed. It's lean, powerful stuff aided by a terrific cast and an economy of scale on Maoz's part.
