This wonderfully lush and atmospheric adaptation of the Gabriel Garcia Marquez novel, Of Love and Other Demons unfolds in a gorgeous vision of18th century Cartagena. Stunning newcomer Eliza Triana plays Sierva, the innocent, thirteen-year-old daughter of a wealthy and influential family. When she is bitten on the leg by a rabid dog, a bishop confines her to a local convent and orders priest Cayetano (Pablo Derqui) to exorcise the demon within her. It is the beginning of an impossible love in which both Cayetano and Eliza will pay dearly for an infatuation that becomes all-consuming. The result is a sensual melodrama elegantly directed by feature novice Hilda Hidalgo. Part of Glasgow Film Festival
