The Good, The Bad and The Ugly
- 180 min
- Directed by: Sergio Leone
- Cast: Clint Eastwood, Lee Van Cleef, Eli Wallach
- Language: Italian
During the American Civil War, a trio of mean gringos squabble over hidden loot. Most people remember the Morricone score from this Leone extravaganza, but the degree of directorial stylisation (just count the number of times extreme close-ups fill the screen) make it a remarkable effort all round. Third and last of the Dollars trilogy starring Eastwood.
This film is not currently showing in cinemas.
The Hippodrome is thrilled to welcome our special guest for the evening: Fabrizio Gianni, former fashion photographer for Elle, Vogue and GQ, now living in Falkirk, who began his career in the cinema, working alongside directors Visconti, Rossellini, Coppola, and Leone, and who joined on set the likes of Clint Eastwood, Klaus Kinski, Gary Oldman, John Cassavetes and Gina Lollobrigida.
We will screen the splendid digital restoration of spaghetti Western classic, ‘The Good, the Bad and the Ugly’, co-directed by Gianni himself, and conclude the evening with a Q&A chaired by Alan Morrision, Group Arts Editor at ‘The Herald’ and ‘Sunday Herald’, and Artistic Director of the Kirkcaldy Film Festival.
In partnership with The Park Gallery ‘Fantasia’ an exhibition of photographs by Fabrizio Gianni.
