Tender Son: The Frankenstein Project

: Feature - International

No stranger to EIFF, Kornél Mundruczó (Pleasant Days, EIFF 2002, Johanna, EIFF 2005) returns with his ‘reimagining’ of (the second half of) Mary Shelley’s famous novel. His ‘monster’, though, is a boy: an orphan, recently arrived in a wintry, contemporary Budapest in search of those who ‘created’ him. Rejected anew, and at large in a world of emotions he cannot begin to comprehend, he lashes out. This is a bold, visually striking (both in its cinematography and locations), dark and chilling film.
