Semi-autobiographical study of the pain of being an artist, in many ways the overture to poet/author/director Cocteau's later, richer work. Rougher and less sophisticated than Cocteau's later Orphee, it is still a fascinating entry point into both surrealist cinema and Cocteau's work.
