A made-for-TV guide to the coolest 20th century philosopher that Britain has any claim to is a home-grown intellectual's dream scenario. Arranged in inescapably 'Jarmanesque' tableaux, the vignettes are enjoyable in themselves, but the cinematic limitations of trendy academia are clear. Biography rather than enlightenment.
