Just as the two young gay protagonists play an intellectual game of murder to prove their superiority, Hitchcock shows off his skills by constructing the movie in uncut 10-minute takes. Some of the dialogue is a little philosophically heavy, which weighs down the parlour fun of the concept, but it does provide another example of the strangely perverse fascinations of the director.
