- Directed by: Joseph Losey
- Written by: Evan Jones (screenplay), based on a play by John Wilson and a novel by James Lansdale Hodson
- Cast: Dirk Bogarde, Tom Courtenay, Leo McKern, Barry Foster
Not a million miles away from Losey's own film 'The Servant', this WWI movie also plays the class card. Courtenay is a working-class deserter whose dilemma compromises the liberal officer (Bogarde) assigned to defend him at his court martial. A little too un-cinematic.
