The story of Komona (Mwanza), a 12-year-old girl in an unnamed part of sub-Saharan Africa, who is kidnapped by rebels and forced to become a child soldier. Nguyen's sensitive approach, Mwanza's subtle and complex performance and Bolduc's cinematography make it a sometimes harrowing but powerful and worthwhile film.
