A Great Day in Harlem
- Directed by: Jean Bach
- Cast: Dizzy Gillespie, Milt Hinton, Marian McPartland
Riveting, Oscar-nominated documentary on the making of a legendary photograph. In August 1958, photographer Art Kane assembled 57 great jazz musicians on the steps of a New York City brownstone and memorialised them: from Red Allen to Gene Krupa, from Dizzy Gillespie and Thelonious Monk to Jimmy Rushing and Sonny Rollins, it was a spectacular gathering of talent, and Bach's film details how it all came about.
