Rasus and Srintil are two young Indonesians in the poor village of Duhuk Paruk in the 1960s. Their burgeoning love story is tested when Srintil is pushed by the village elders to become the new ronggeng, a dancer who is revered by the village but also belongs to it, thus making marriage and motherhood unobtainable to her. Set during the political turmoil which affected the country, will their love story survive?
