Part 2 of Kashyap's gangster epic starts with dissolute Faizal (Siddiqui) reluctantly avenging the death of his father, but he soon gets a taste for blood. The drug-taking and weapon-toting are upped to occasionally ridiculous effect, and although the film captures the cycle of violence, ultimately its point is no more complex than 'crime doesn't pay'.

If Part I of Anurag Kashyap’s stunning saga acknowledged the influence of Leone and Coppola, the pulsating conclusion owes more to Tarantino and Johnnie To. A new generation rises to continue the epic tale of gang warfare with prodigal son Faizal torn between the demands of his family honour and his desire to escape the blood-soaked legacy of the past. His ruthless manner, pursuit of the deadly Mohsina and entry into the world of politics propels the film breathlessly towards the present. An exhilarating burst of pure adrenalin matching classical Hollywood with Indian verve and inventiveness.
