During the last day of the 2001 G8 meeting in Genoa, a few minutes before midnight, more than 300 police officers storm the Armando Diaz school which has become a social forum for journalists and activists, who are mostly European students. As the police forces break in, they blindly and violently attack everybody they stumble upon in what Amnesty international described as 'the most serious suspension of democratic rights in a Western country since the Second World War'.
