The great Vincent Lindon is reunited with his Mademoiselle Chambon director Stéphane Brizé for a sensitively handled, incredibly moving family drama. Just released from prison, weary and hopeless, Lindon’s Alain has little choice but to move in with his elderly mother Yvette (Hélène Vincent). Mother and son are soon driving each other crazy. When Alain starts a relationship he is even more acutely aware of the frustrations of living at home. When it becomes apparent that Yvette is seriously ill and failing, they are forced to establish a different relationship and face the painful realities of her final days.
