Maria Sadowska emerges as a talent to watch with her smart, involving feature debut Women’s Day. Katarzyna’s Kwiatkowska’s single mother Halina becomes a latterday mixture of Norma Rae and Erin Brockovich as she takes up the cudgels against injustice and corporate greed. A single mother, Halina is only too happy to accept a promotion at her local supermarket until she discovers being a manager involves ruthless cost cutting and a callous disregard for workers’ basic rights. Pushed to the limit, she eventually decides to wage a David and Goliath legal battle against the mercenary company.
