Dark Star, John Carpenter’s first feature, is widely regarded as a cult classic and a seminal influence on 21st century sci-fi. Co-written by and starring Alien screenwriter Dan O’Bannon, this low budget space comedy has found its place in the science fiction pantheon as the missing link between 2001: A Space Odyssey and Red Dwarf. Sheffield-based musicians and producers Animat’s new soundtrack to the film uses their own original tracks, an eclectic selection from their DJ archive and remixed themes from the original score. Previous film projects have included Belleville Rendez-vous, The Straight Story and The Last Man on Earth.
