Black Box 2: Patterns and Repetitions
This film is not currently showing in cinemas.
Quirky, cyclical, and always unpredictable.
This programme takes a broad approach to repetition, sequentiality and the relationship between stillness and motion that have always, to a large extent, defined experimental film aesthetics. Questions of reproduction, remaking, and creative image recycling are at the forefront of many of these films, from a deteriorated VHS tape of Jonas Mekas’ Lost Lost Lost, to animated polaroid photographs, via a ghostly layering of Michael Haneke’s Funny Games and its American remake. Featuring the latest audiovisual treat by Black Box regular Makino Takashi.
