Elbow Room

- 2014
- Directed by: Thomas Butler
The culmination of an 18 month residency with Red Note Ensemble, Elbow Room by Thomas Butler tells the story of the mid-20th century plan to demolish the city of Glasgow and replace it with a futuristic concrete utopia. Butler mixes period films from the Scottish Screen Archive with new sound recordings and a virtuosic score featuring violin, cello, percussion, electric guitar, synthesizer, clarinet and bass clarinet to transport the audience back to a time of naively optimistic urban evolution.
