A stirring tale of courage and responsibility.

The job of taking care of his younger brother has given ten year old Jack a maturity beyond his years. Their father is absent, and his mother is affectionate when she's home but too preoccupied with her own pleasures to be much help. One day, an accident exposes the family's precarious living situation to the authorities, who put Jack in a state-run home. Forced to defend himself against a sociopathic bully, Jack sets off on a desperate journey. The compelling and unsentimental portrait of a boy in search of his own childhood.
