A terrible family secret haunts several generations of women.

As punishment for some unspecified act that has brought shame on the family, a father chases his daughter around the cellar, catches her, and orders his young son to kill her. They bury her under the stone floor of the cellar of the family house. Years later, the daughter of the now-grown son is desperate to avoid an arranged marriage with a much older man. This masterfully filmed drama, a strong attack on patriarchal authority, was banned for two years by the Iranian government.
