Sixteen-year-old Marieme (Touré) has a largely absent working mother, two younger sisters to care for and a thuggish, abusive older brother; feeling oppressed, she joins a brash and defiant girl gang led by the wonderfully sassy Lady (Sylla). Exuberant and insightful portrayal of black Parisian teenagers, as powerful as it is entertaining.
