New Found Sound
This film is not currently showing in cinemas.
New Found Sound is a unique schools initiative which invites talented young people to respond musically to silent film. Now in its ninth year the 2019 project is led by mentor Colin Broom (Composer, Royal Conservatoire of Scotland), and leading folk musicians John Somerville, Marc Duff (Capercaillie co-founder) and Laura Beth Salter (The Shee), tutors with Falkirk Schools Traditional Music Groups. Students from Boness High School will be conducting and performing the premiere of their new score to Sadness Gladness. This will be followed by two other shorts from the National Library of Scotland Moving Image Archive, Climbing in Skye and MV Glamis (Dundee Perth and London Shipping Co. Ltd), accompanied by the Traditional Bands. The event will conclude with a new silent film created by local young filmmakers who have worked with Screen Education Edinburgh.N/C U | 1h 30m incl. QA
