Yinniang (Shu) is raised to be an assassin, but when she fails to kill a target she is sent to kill the governor (Chang) of a nearby province who happens to be her first love. Elegant, unhurried and taciturn, its fight scenes are dynamic but martial arts fans will crave more action from a film that exercises restraint and prizes compassion.
