Nigerian-born pathologist Dr Bennet Omalu (Smith) uncovers the fact that professional American footbal players are suffering from lasting brain damage. Smith is excellent, but the script is plodding and passionless, and a pervading, clunky, overblown jingoism is off-putting for anyone who doesn't think that America is superior to all other nations.
