Biopic of Phiona Mutesi (Nalwanga), a girl from the slums of Katwe, Uganda, who turned out to have a genius for chess. Confidently heartwarming stuff, if a little predictable, with a wonderfully engrossing performance from Nalwanga and classy support from Oyelowo as Phiona's coach and Nyong'o as her mother.
