Arnold Schwarzenegger plays a devoted father who's struggling to come to terms with the death of his wife and pregnant daughter in a horrific plane crash. As he tracks down the air traffic controller Jake (Scott McNairy), who was on duty the night of the accident, Aftermath becomes a story of male trauma, portrayed with true sensitivity.

In 1946 Rachael Morgan arrives in the ruins of Hamburg to be reunited with her husband - a British colonel charged with rebuilding the city. Stunned to discover they will be sharing their new home with its previous owners - a German widower and his troubled daughter - Rachael has to deal with an atmosphere of enmity and grief, that ultimately gives way to passion and betrayal.
