America, the end of the 19th century: Liz (Fanning) is a young woman who is mercilessly stalked by an evil Reverend (Pearce). The persistent violence becomes increasingly absurd the longer the film goes on, and despite the occasional arresting image concerning the silencing and erasure of women, it’s relentlessly brutal and weirdly flat.
