A group of medical students embark on a series of experiments in which they kill themselves, experience the afterlife and are brought back. The characters are unlikeable, there’s no reverence for the life-after-death theme and every modern horror cliché gets trotted out. It makes Schumacher’s mildly enjoyable 1990 original seem like a masterpiece.
