Larry (Carell), Sal (Cranston) and Mueller (Fishburne) are three Vietnam veterans who get together for the funeral of Larry’s son, who was killed in the Iraq war. Linklater turns Darry Ponicsan’s novel into a silly and poignant comedy exploring loss of faith and trust in government. Plot points sometimes feel contrived, but the sense of brotherhood is convincing.
