Set in modern day Tehran, what starts as a bungled heist movie fragments to tell the tale of Hussain (Emadeddin), his brother-in-law Pourang (Nakhael) and what leads Hussain to a cross-roads in his life. The central burglary of a jewel store is a conceit used by writer Abbas Kiarostami to hoodwink, while he highlights the lack of compassion he believes runs through the urban chaos of his city. Elegiac and tragically futile, this is a stern lesson in the inevitability of the resurgence of class war, wherever you live.
